I took some time and thought really hard about [Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest][pirates] and I’ve come to two conclusions:
1. As I’ve stated before, cliffhanger endings suck. Though I feel that I wouldn’t be as pissed off if I’d seen the cliffhanger coming or even if at least one of the plot threads withing this film was brought to a resolution. Instead, the story ramps up and cuts off abruptly. I feel like I’ve only seen half a film. Unfortunately, I paid for a complete story. My biggest issue is that I feel like they’re trying to force me to see the next film.
I mean, even Spiderman 2 had a cliffhanger of an ending, but at least the matter of Doc Octopus was resolved. I didn’t feel cheated at the end of that film, I was excited.
2. All of that being said, it was a tremendously good movie up to the end. It was funny, it was full of action. I was awesome. It was better in all ways than the first film. All ways, except the ending. I hate to keep going on and on about the end, but the ending of a film will make or break a film. It’s, of course, the last thing you see as you leave the cinema.
Maybe my opinion of this film will change once I’m able to watch it and its sequel. As it stands though, it is a half a film.
