People have been sleeping on Mos Def. I used to date a chick who, despite claiming to be a Mos Def fan, didn’t own either of his 2 albums. I just shook my head at that…
It’s good to see him coming out with some new music between all the acting gigs. I guess he’s got more time now that he’s not on Chappelle’s Show every week.
I’ve got the first two and they’re classics in my book. If you (our readers) like this, I’d definitely recommend that you check out his first 2 albums and grab (i.e. purchase) this one when it comes out, too.

Care to elaborate? What do you mean by that?
i mean that too many people listen to shit with preconceptions based on what they WANT the artist to sound like, usually with some jaded or idealistic view taken from that artists best work. yes, i expect there to be some connecting characteristics between any Mos music, but I dont want to keep an MC boxed in to making a certain kind of music. if people dont like it, they´re more than welcome to, but to say Mos fell off cuz he didnt make BOBS II is ignorant. this wasnt directed at you at all by the way, what actually happened was that i was browsing blogs about True Magic and i kept running into¨”mos is boring…fell off…blah blah” and i commented that on your blog by accident. no offense
None taken. I wasn’t offended at all! In fact, I agree with you. People say the same things about Outkast just because they don’t sound like ATLiens or Southernplayalistic anymore.
Artists grow and change and that’s good. I think every new album should have a new sound or at least some evolution of the old, because if I wanted to keep hearing the same, I’d keep listening to the old album!
So I feel what you’re saying!
