It’s official, BET has lost it’s mind.

I’m sure that everyone knows how I feel about BET. If you’re not sure, here’s a brief synopsis:

BET is the worst channel on television.

Apparently, BET has come to terms with this and has all but given up on the idea of even looking like a channel that wasn’t programmed by nitwits. Actually the more I think about it, apparently, BET seems as though it is actively attempting to destroy any modicum of positive black imagery and destroy the black public image…

Mixing it up? A discussion of interracial dating.

the embrace

You knew it was only a matter of time before this came up. Today, we talk about a subject that is sure to ruffle a few feathers. I’m beginning the first of two or three articles discussing interracial dating.

I’ve dated women of a variety of races (black, white, asian, middle eastern, etc… I don’t really keep score like that) and I’ve come to one conclusion, they’re all crazy. I’m kidding ladies, I’m kidding! The actual conclusion that I’ve come to is that being proud of my heritage (black pride) and interracial relations are not mutually exclusive concepts. But I’ve also come to the conclusion that an issue with interracial dating belies a larger issue beneath the surface.

Is “Lynched” Video Too Much?

I’ll be the first to admit it. We’ve been slipping. I know, I know. A week has passed with no new articles, no new controversy. Well, that will probably change today, because I’ve been saving this one for now.

I first saw the music video in question about 2 weeks ago and I’ve been hankering to talk about this in a public setting and gather some feedback from you, our readers. I was on the Facebook and I saw that one of my homies (shouts out to Wole) had linked to this video from his page. So I check it out and I was, to say the least, a bit shocked. The video is question is by an artist named NY Oil and the song is call “Yall Should All Get Lynched”. Some of you may have seen it, some of you may not. Many of the people I’ve spoken to in person hold strong feeling for or against this video and the song behind it.

I’ve embeded a YouTube video after the jump. Have a look for yourself. I’ll share my thoughts and opinions and then open the floor for you all to chime in with your thoughts. Be aware, grown folks, this video is definitely NSFW so don’t go clicking on it in your cubicles or classrooms with your volume on blast… you’ve been warned.

The Inbreeding of Black Cinema

A scene from Stomp the Yard involving, you guessed it, dancing negroes!

Aww Yeah. I’m back! There’s been a lot of buzz on “teh interwebs” and in conversations about Stomp the Yard and it’s got me thinking… not just about this film, but about the state of black cinema as a whole. I must say that the more I think, the more pissed off I get. Allow me to share my thoughts on the subject of the deterioration of black cinema.

Borrowed Article on Gun Violence in Black Community

What’s up everybody! I’ve been a little under the weather lately so I’m behind on my articles, but I have two in the oven almost ready, so keep being patient, I appreciate it. Until then, I suggest everyone check out this article written by sportswriter, Jason Whitlock, on the subject of the violent culture in the black community. I personally agree with him on it, so take a read and leave your impressions.
