Tweezy, the Early Years: Talkin’ Like a White Dude

By the time I got to middle school, I had worked out the bulk of my internal racial issues. This is partially because my parents did a good job of showing me that black is beautiful and partially because I was too busy with being a nerd (dealing with bullies and doing science projects) to be concerned with something as abstract as racial identity. Slap on the Wrist Too Little for Don Imus?

I don’t know how many people have been following the developments of the comments made by Don Imus, a radio talk show host and writer, on Tuesday in reference to the Rutgers women’s basketball team. Imus was subsequently suspended for 2 weeks. My question to our readers this week is do you think that suspension is enough? Or should he have been fired? Do you believe his speech is protected under the First Amendment? I’m pretty sure that regular readers know where I stand on this, so I’m posing the question to you.
