Cracked: The 9 Most Racist Disney Characters

dumboracist1.jpg

Firstly, yes. Cracked is still around and it’s still funny. At least in digital form… (I’m not sure about the magazine because, frankly, I never look for it.) It seems that these days Cracked’s bread and butter is Top 10 lists of sorts, which is fine by me because I find them amusing.

Long story short, I’m reading Cracked last week when I stumble upon an article entitled “The 9 Most Racist Disney Characters”. It’s a pretty funny read that details stereotypes that appear in old disney cartoons (particularly the crows in Dumbo, I always hated them!). There are even video clips of the offenders in action! And it’s not just black people either. There are some asian, native american and arabian stereotypes for variety.

So pop over and give this article a quick read… just try not to take things too seriously. Whatever you do, don’t forward the link to Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or we’ll be marching on the Magic Kingdom this time next week.

Man on Fire… LOL.

Build a man a fire, and he’ll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm for the rest of his life.

Douglas Adams on Human Beings

“Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.”

Black Kids: Wizard of Ahhhs

black-kids.jpg

So I was perusing my favorite blogs yesterday when I stumbled across short article on Undercover Black Man about a mixed-race band called Black Kids. UBM explains a lot about who they are and where they come from, so I won’t recant everything he said. You can read it for yourself at the link below.

So I downloaded the free EP, Wizard of Ahhhs, on their website and I like it. It’s a bit like the Killers, but with a strong teeny-bopper twist and a certain lack of polish that’s endearing. Anyway, it’s free so check it out. If you like it, good. If you don’t delete the file and tell me that I’m stupid in the comments area below.
