Many black brothers and sisters have heard the quote in the title of this article countless times. It seems as if their is a shortage of “good” guys for the sisters in the black community. Conversely, the brothers sometimes wonder where all the “good” women are as well. Is it really possible that both parties are asking valid questions? Is there really a shortage of “good” black men and women for dating purposes? And how come the good ones can’t find each other? Well as you may know by now, guess who’s going to help answer these questions….that’s right, your friendly neighborhood brotherman, AJ!

James Brown, the Godfather of Soul, as we should remember him.
I’m a few days late on posting this, but as an Augusta, GA native, I’m taking a moment to remember James Brown.
Brown was admitted to the Emory Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia on December 24, 2006 after a dentist visit where he was found to have severe pneumonia. Brown died the next day on December 25, 2006, Christmas Day, at around 1:45 a.m. aged 73. The cause of death was heart failure, according to his agent. James was quoted saying “I’m going away tonight” sometime before he passed away. He then took three long, quiet breaths, and closed his eyes. Brown’s body rested on the stage of legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem, the site of his debut. A private ceremony was held in Brown’s hometown of Augusta, Georgia and another public ceremony was officiated by Rev. Al Sharpton, a day later at the James Brown Arena there. [source: Wikipedia]
This was sad news to receive on a Christmas morning, my family spent a little time talking about it. Let’s remember Brown for his musical talents. In other news, Spike Lee has signed on to direct a James Brown biopic:
Lee will rewrite a draft recently turned in by Jezz and John Henry Butterworth. The script has been through several drafts since Steve Baigelman wrote the original. [source: comingsoon.net]
I’m not sure how I feel about the film… it could be good. I mean Ray good, or it could suck horribly. You never know.

All I want for Christmas is presents and sweater puppies! Is that immature of me?
I’m not really much of a holiday person. I can count the number of people who I’ve wished a Merry Christmas on one hand. But
I like being able to take a day off from work as much as the next guy. So with that in mind, I’m wishing you all a happy holiday and taking a few days off from The Brown. I’ll still be moderating and responding to comments, but no more articles from Antuan until Wednesday, Dec. 27th.
Aaron may still drop an article or 2 in on ya, but I can’t speak for him (or the queen of mean will try to fight me, and I’m afraid of her.) So, stay tuned!
Some of you may have noticed that things are picking up here at brilliantbrown, there have been more entries about a wider variety of topics. Well, it’s only gonna get better in 2007. Even more articles, even more topics, even more features and a few surprises!
So I’ll see you guys on Wednesday with a fresh article! Now would be a good time for you to go back and read + comment on some of the articles you may have missed!
-Cheers.
Amusing comic I found on RunObama.com. Enjoy!

This is what the internet looks like!
I’m starting a little something new by highlighting a few stories that I’ve found on other sites. This should give you guys something to read between brilliantbrown articles and hopefully stimulate your minds for discussion. Here you go:
