Upon request from my good friend LaToya, we will be posting quotes of the day here on the site, as provided by her. I think it was a good idea so we’ll just get it started with the first one.
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

We get many things from our parents. Our looks, our language, our religion and culture… all of these things are passed down from generation to generation and are equally a part of who we are. However, some things that get passed down are not good. For example, if your family has a history of heart disease, it’d be good to know that because chances are that you’re at risk as well.
Understand also that a parent may unintentionally pass down negative ways and personality traits. This brings us to the subject of today’s post. I hope to outline a few examples of negative behaviors pertinent to relationships that parents often unintentionally pass along to you, their children. By taking notice of these behaviors, one can take steps toward breaking them and ensuring that you don’t pass them along to your kids.

Before I go on with this post, let me give a quick “R.I.P.” to Gerald Levert who died two weeks ago of a massive heart attack. For those of you not familiar with him, he was a R&B singer whose career spanned from the 1980s to recent times. His father is Eddie Levert of the famous old-school R&B group, The Ojays. Also, Gerald rocked a mean beard in his heyday, even Tom Hanks in ‘Castaway’ would be proud. I know alot of 40-45 year old black women are mourning right now Gerald, we’re gonna miss you.
Today I’ll be talking about common mistakes single people make when lonely. We’ve all been there, Friday night and all your friends are out with a significant other while you sitting at home watching Law and Order reruns on TNT. Too many consecutive nights like that will lead to some dumb decisions and I want everybody to avoid those pitfalls. I got the inspiration to write about this due to some mistakes that I’ve made and seen a friend make. I’ve organized my thoughts into a list because we all know how much America love lists!

It’s easy to get discouraged while looking for Mister (or Miss) Right.
Today’s post is a short one. I’ve been really busy with work and behind the scenes stuff. But I wanted to share some things that have been floating around in my head for a while.
I’m just going to have to be blunt here… the reason that you’re having a hard time finding a good woman/man is because there aren’t many. That’s the same reason I’m having a hard time finding my mate, fit, soulmate, or whatever we’re calling it today. But good women and men they are out there.

For those of you who aren’t too old to be watching cartoons, check this show out. I’m always complaining that there isn’t enough positive black programming on television, so I’m encouraging everyone to support this show and check it out. If you’re too grown to watch a cartoon, then sit your kids in front of it. But I can guarantee that you’ll find yourself watching, too.
This show has good music. The kind of music that I’d listen to in my car. André 3000 is in charge, what did you expect? Add that to the fact that there’s a positive black role model and heartwarming subject matter. This show is a certified winner. I cant’ say anymore, just watch it! If you’ve seen an episode or two, let us know what you think!
Friday Nights @ 8p on the Cartoon Network.
